Entertainment Weekly Unveils Six New Stills From Game Of Thrones Season Four

With less than two weeks left to go before the return of HBO's hit show Game of Thrones, we're still receiving little pieces of marketing that will no doubt lead right up to the premiere of the fourth season. We've already had a number of posters, trailers, and stills, but as any fan of the books and/or show could tell you, more is always a good thing.

With less than two weeks left to go before the return of HBO’s hit show Game of Thrones, we’re still receiving little pieces of marketing that will no doubt lead right up to the premiere of the fourth season. We’ve already had a number of posters, trailers, and stills, but as any fan of the books and/or show could tell you, more is always a good thing.

Today, Entertainment Weekly has released six new stills from the upcoming season, two of which point towards some of the major scenes that we’ll be seeing in the near future. Included is a shot of King Joffrey and his bride, Queen Margaery, at their extravagant wedding (“The Purple Wedding” as it’s come to be known), where you can bet that things aren’t going to go exactly as planned. If the “Red Wedding” taught us anything, it’s that weddings have become dangerous affairs in Westeros as of late.

Another shot that’s included is a little more subtle in its importance to the storyline. This picture of Arya Stark could indeed be from a major scene that involves a certain fight at an inn near the end of the book. The look on her face says that something major just happened, so it’s a good bet that this is exactly what I suspect it to be.

As for the others, there’s nothing particularly exciting among them. We have a shot of Dany and her two right-hand men, as well as shots of her with the new Daario Naharis and one of her dragons. Finally, if you look really closely in the still featuring Ser Jaime, you’ll see him sporting his new gold hand, replacing the one he lost last season while on the road with Brienne.

Like the rest of you, I’m counting down the days until the show is finally back. My anticipation is particularly high for this season as it’s going to contain a multitude of unforgettable events that could indeed top what we’ve already seen.

Game of Thrones season four, based on the latter half of George R. R. Martin’s A Storm of Swords, premieres on April 6th at 9pm on HBO.
