Although it may have come as a shock to some, Clifford DeVoe kickstarting the Enlightenment was something that needed to happen going into The Flash‘s season finale. I mean, how are we to take the Thinker seriously if he can’t enjoy some sort of victory every now and then?
But that’s only just the beginning of the craziness to be witnessed in less than one week’s time because, as the extended trailer seen above teaches us, the Scarlet Speedster will actually be venturing into the big bad’s mind as part of the climactic showdown. It’s a huge risk for our hero to take, sure, but it could make for one surreal viewing experience.
And if that weren’t enough, the network is serving up more goodies by releasing more than a dozen preview images culled from the episode in question. In addition to showing more of the mental battle teased by the promo, suspicions that Marlize DeVoe will offer Team Flash a helping hand are confirmed. Whether or not she stays on the side of good remains to be seen, but she should prove to be an invaluable ally if no flip-flopping is to occur.
As you peruse the accompanying gallery, you may wonder why there are so many pictures of Cecile. Lest we forget, the Mystery Girl let us know that the baby will arrive the very date the finale is set to air, so I’m half-expecting that the gal who’s been confounding viewers since first appearing in last fall’s Crisis on Earth-X crossover will indeed be there to greet whom I’m assuming is her infant self. Plus, Cecile’s mental powers could be used as a weapon against DeVoe.
