Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

First Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina Trailer Casts A Spell On The Web

Following up on that spooky poster from yesterday, Netflix has now debuted the very first trailer for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

If you’ve been keeping up with what Archie Comics have been doing in recent years, then you’re surely well aware of how they’ve branched out far beyond comedy. Besides just injecting more drama into their flagship books, they’ve also put out a variety of very solid horror titles as well, such as Afterlife with Archie, Jughead: The Hunger and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Though many assumed that the TV adaptation chronicling the adventures of the teenage witch would land over at The CW and serve as a spinoff to Riverdale, that’s no longer the case. Instead, the show now belongs to Netflix, where it’s been picked up for two, ten-episode seasons. And with production well underway now, the marketing campaign’s beginning to heat up, with the very first trailer hitting the web this morning.

It’s decidedly darker than the original ABC series, and this first-look teaser from Netflix proves that Miss. Spellman is about to venture into full-blown horror-thriller territory, with gigantic pentagrams and hallucinations (?) of hellish landscapes. Hang around to the end and you’ll even catch a teasing shot of the Spellmans’ magical cat Salem…

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina features the up-and-coming Kiernan Shipka in the role made famous by Melissa Joan Hart. And yes, we understand Sabrina still lives with her overbearing aunts Hilda and Zelda. This time around, they’re less overbearing and more… demonic? They’re certainly fascinated with the occult, and appear to be gathered around the dinner table to raise a glass in honor of Sabrina’s birthday, and if nothing else, this shot alone proves Netflix is gunning for a “more macabre” adaptation of the iconic witch.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina premieres via Netflix on October 26th – just in time for All Hallow’s Eve…
