First look at Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ suggests it won’t even keep canon with the MCU

We're so confused right now.

At this point, it’s become abundantly clear that Marvel Studios is taking a carefree approach to its Daredevil canon, as the incoming Daredevil: Born Again looks set to retain much from the Netflix show — Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, even Jon Bernthal as the Punisher — but also jettison a lot of what made that series a hit, too — like not inviting back Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll and recasting Vanessa Fisk.

While we can just about get our heads around that, though, a new set pic is suggesting the Disney Plus revival won’t even maintain a sense of continuity with the MCU. We finally have our first look at D’Onofrio back on set in NYC as Wilson Fisk, with the Kingpin looking sharper than ever. In fact, he’s looking surprisingly spry for a guy who was shot in the head at point-blank range last time we saw him.

If you’ll recall, Hawkeye ended on a cliffhanger concerning the villain’s fate as it was heavily implied Echo (Alaqua Cox) left him blind, going by what happens in the comics. But apparently, Fisk is going to get himself the “Thor in Avengers: Infinity War” treatment and recover from that ordeal lickety-split.

Are we talking some sci-fi experimental surgery here or what?

Seems a little harsh given Matt got no canon-bending fix of his own.

Could they CGI an eyepatch in later? Or is this scene actually a flashback?

While it’s a head-scratcher that Kingpin’s head doesn’t have a scratch on it to us at the moment, remember that we have got the Echo spin-off series to come before Born Again gets here, which has long been rumored to feature roles for both Cox (Charlie, not Alaqua) and D’Onofrio. So it’s highly likely that’s the show that will address the mystery of what happened between Fisk and Maya Lopez in Hawkeye. Or maybe it’ll just become one of those weird MCU glitches we’re not supposed to talk about.
