The Flash Fans Are Going Crazy For King Shark Vs. Gorilla Grodd

The Flash gave fans something they’ve been dreaming of for years last night, as season 5’s fifteenth episode saw a mighty battle between two fan favorite foes, Killer Shark and Gorilla Grodd. Sometimes much-anticipated episodes like these don’t live up to the hype but, going by the reaction on social media, the melee between the meta-monsters went down a storm.

Naturally, the highlight for many was the big fight between the telepathic gorilla and the humanoid predator. Showrunner Todd Helbing might have warned us that this episode would be tricky to make due to all that costly CGI, but congrats to the VFX team as they really pulled out all the stops for this one.

As if this crossover wasn’t cool enough, one fan imagined another DC hero wandering onto the show…

Of course, one of the best elements of the episode was the redemption of King Shark, with the former foe of Team Flash joining sides with the Scarlet Speedster. Some even suggested he should become a recurring ally to the STAR Labs gang.

Alternatively, other fans had a different reaction to King Shark’s redemption arc.

Away from the Gorilla/Shark goodness, “King Shark vs. Gorilla Grodd” also marked the return of Jesse L. Martin as Joe West to the series, after being absent for much of the season due to a back injury.

As this was a must-see event for every Flash fan, those of us who missed its initial airing know how Iris felt in the episode.

But, if you didn’t manage to catch it, this handy GIF pretty much sums up everything you need to know.

It’s even been officially approved by Flash star Danielle Panabaker:

The Flash returns next Tuesday for 5×16 “Failure is an Orphan,” which promises to feature an epic showdown between Barry Allen and Cicada. Don’t miss it.
