Boy, the month-long hiatus fans of The Flash have had to endure has been more difficult than those shared by some of the other DC TV shows, hasn’t it? My reason for saying that isn’t just because it’s one of the stronger superhero series currently airing, but also because we’ve been left hanging when it comes to two very important plot threads.
With the Scarlet Speedster and the rest of the S.T.A.R. Labs crew returning to airwaves tomorrow night, the network has opted to circulate a “Spring Recap” trailer that’s quite self explanatory in nature. In the span of just over a minute, viewers are kept abreast of the topics I alluded to a moment ago, that of the threat of Savitar and Caitlin Snow finally becoming Killer Frost.
Surprisingly, Savitar is given the least amount of attention here, but since he’s season 3’s big bad, I guess his reputation precedes him. Still, withholding his identity for this long has started to test our patience, so here’s hoping that this week yields the big reveal.
As for the Killer Frost bit, it’s fair to say that we’ve all been waiting for this since the first season. And if this particular thread has kept you on the edge of your seat, you probably won’t want to miss next week’s episode. But regardless of whether she decides to be a force for good or evil, let’s hold out hope that we’ll be seeing more of her come next year.
The Flash returns this Tuesday, April 25, with “The Once and Future Flash.” In the meantime, you can check out the official synopsis below:
TOM CAVANAGH DIRECTS; BARRY TRAVELS TO THE FUTURE TO SAVE IRIS – Barry (Grant Gustin) travels to the future to find out Savitar’s still unknown identity in the hopes of saving Iris (Candice Patton). Upon his arrival in 2024, Barry encounters future versions of his Team Flash friends, who, following the death of Iris, have become very different people, profoundly impacted by their showdown with Savitar. It will be up to Barry to infuse a sense of hope back into the team, as he proves to be hero his future friends have been waiting for. Meanwhile, back in 2017, the hunt for Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) continues. Tom Cavanagh directed the episode written by Carina Adly MacKenzie (#319)
