Though the concept of celebrities using social media platforms to generate interest in their projects is certainly nothing new, I’ve applauded the actors making up the Arrowverse time and again for their continued involvement with the fanbase. Every now and then, one of the folks playing an iconic DC hero is bound to drop some key artwork or reveal their latest costume to be worn on the small screen.
If anyone’s done this most, it’s Stephen Amell. Aside from hyping Arrow and the subsequent crossovers in ways listed above, he’s also been known to have us join in for things like “Meme Monday” and “Fan Art Friday.” Heck, I’ve even seen the guy pull random fans into his Facebook Live videos!
The Flash‘s Grant Gustin, meanwhile, plays it a bit more casual, but he’s adored the world over nonetheless. Unfortunately, he recently announced that he’s walking away from Instagram for a while, saying:
“Gonna take an Instagram hiatus. No specific reason. Just feels like time for an extended break.”
If I were to hazard a guess, Gustin is like any other person who needs to take a vacation from social media every so often. Hey, a lot of hard work goes along with headlining a prime time TV show broadcast on a major network, so I’m sure he has other pressing matters to attend to.
That said, we can only hope he’s back online in time for “Crisis on Infinite Earths” later this fall. If not, then we always have Amell to fall back on. Either way, we wish Grant all the best.
This discussion aside, it’s hard not noticing news pertaining to the Scarlet Speedster’s series itself has been a bit light this summer. To recap what we do know, the upcoming season play host to two big bads – one pre-Crisis (Bloodwork) and one post-Crisis – and Wally West is set to return. Beyond that cool stuff though, we’ll keep you posted as more develops.
The Flash returns with new episodes on Tuesday, October 8th on The CW.
