Former ‘Daredevil’ showrunner still considers ‘Born Again’ season 4 of the Netflix show

We hope that's how it ends up panning out.

While a whole lot of us were thrilled to see Charlie Cox reprise his role as Matt Murdock in the MCU proper by way of appearing in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, there’s a whole lot of us out there that are fearful Disney will… Well… “Disney-fy” the beloved Netflix show too much.

The trepidation is pretty justified – the Big Mouse is no stranger to watering down established intellectual property that is traditionally a little bit more on the gritty, dark, and adult-oriented scale of entertainment.

While one of Daredevil’s original showrunners, Erik Oleson, doesn’t have a hand in what Matt Murdoch’s future looks like under Disney, perhaps we can take comfort in the fact that he still thinks of the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again as the fourth season of the beloved show as it existed on Netflix.

Oleson doesn’t particularly have any sort of inside scoop on what the new iteration of the series will look like, but he is hopeful that it will live up to the original show’s legacy. He told ScreenRant:

“…I really don’t know what they’re planning yet. We used pieces of Born Again in our season. I still call [Daredevil: Born Again] season 4, but they’re trying to insist it isn’t, so I’ll go along with whatever they want to call it. I’m very happy that Charlie [Cox] and Vincent, and hopefully more of our Marvel friends, will get a chance to go make more of the show. I’m a huge fan of them; I’m a huge fan of the show. I look forward to seeing what it is. I hope it’s great, let me put it that way.”

We probably speak for everyone when we say, for the love of Daredevil, we hope so too, Erik. For now, all we can do is anxiously sit and wait for it to land on our television screens. Daredevil: Born Again will land on Disney Plus some time next year, and it recently started filming.
