If you ask most fans, Star Trek: Discovery had a pretty solid start with its first season, managing to honor the legacy of past shows in the franchise while also blazing its own path with former Walking Dead star Sonequa Martin-Green leading the charge as Michael Burnham.

So, it’s fair to say that there’s a good deal of excitement swirling around season 2 (especially after this week’s new trailer), which is expected to premiere by way of CBS All Access early next year. And now, to continue drumming up the hype, the network’s released a gorgeous new poster which you can see in the gallery down below.

Accompanied with the tagline “Discover The Next Adventure” and teasing what’ll surely be another thrilling season, it features most of the main cast, including: Cmdr. Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), Cmdr. Saru (Doug Jones), Capt. Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), Spock (Ethan Peck), Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh), Ensign Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman), and Lt. Cmdr. Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp).

Set ten years before The Original SeriesDiscovery‘s second season will look to fill in the gaps between “The Cage” – which had many cast and stylistic changes from the actual show – and Trek as we know it. Of course, one big way it’ll do this is by showing us how Spock transitions from the more relaxed, human character we saw in TOS‘ pilot to the removed, logician that we came to know and love.

Captain Pike will also be fleshed out a lot more beyond his occasional appearances in The Original Series. We know that he’ll jump over from the U.S.S. Enterprise and become acting captain of the Discovery and though they’re initially distrustful of him, the crew will apparently be “galvanized” by the charming character.

Star Trek: Discovery returns to CBS All-Access for its second season on January 17th. Don’t miss it.
