Gorilla Grodd was a highlight of The Flash‘s first season, with surprisingly great special effects bringing the psychic gorilla to life in effective fashion for a TV show on The CW.

The villain’s future was left deliberately ambiguous, and many fans understandably believe that he’ll return to take on the role of The Flash‘s big bad in season three or beyond. Whether or not that’s going to happen remains to be seen, but if it is the plan, then an upcoming episode may just help set the stage for that, as it’s now been confirmed Grodd will indeed be back this year.

Here’s what The Flash star Danielle Panabaker had to say about his impending return to Central City in a recent interview with The Wrap:

“Caitlin plays Fay Wray to Grodd’s Kong. I think in Season 1 you got to see just a tiny bit of her relationship with Grodd, you’ll get to see a little bit more of that and understand their connection from before. He’s got some unfinished business with her, I’d say.”

Much of Gorilla Grodd’s last appearance revolved around his ties to Harrison Wells, so exploring how he’s connected to Caitlin now that that villain is out of the picture should be very interesting.

There’s no word on which episode of The Flash Grodd is set to appear in just yet, but stay tuned for updates.
