HBO Reveals Fleeting Glimpse Of Battle-Ready Ramsay, Cersei And Daenerys Ahead Of Game Of Thrones Season 6

While last week's snippet used remnants of the show's bloody past to tease what will no doubt be an equally bloody future, HBO has today peeled back the curtain on our first glimpse of Game of Thrones season 6.

Featuring new looks at Ramsay Bolton, a weathered Cersei Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen, the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it teaser is buried in the network’s ‘Yearender,’ a sizzle reel that takes a look at television series past and presentation as 2015 draws to a close. You’ll find the Game of Thrones references around the 1:50 mark, but just don’t go in expecting a momentous reveal.

Acting as more of an appetizer than anything else, the all-too-brief snippet showcases a battle-ready Ramsay, flanked by a fleet of bannermen headed toward what we assume to be Winterfell. The dishevelled Cersei, meanwhile, is a far cry from the conniving queen regent we’ve become accustomed to seeing over the past five seasons, while Dany (and Drogon?) are likely somewhere north of Meereen and the Sons of the Harpy when season 6 picks up.

Indeed, Game of Thrones isn’t the only series of note that’s included in today’s snippet, with HBO spotlighting upcoming dramas such as Vinyl, Westworld and Confirmation. And though the network’s new promo will no doubt help garner excitement for the GoT‘s return, it doesn’t answer those lingering questions looming over a certain fallen ally that met his maker during the finale of last season. Will HBO be able to keep a secret up until April?

Game of Thrones is on course to return on HBO in April for season 6, though we’re still waiting on a firm premiere date. Melanie Liburd, Richard E. Grant, Essie Davis and Pilou Asbæk are among the newcomers.
