After fifteen years of empty-nesting Red and Kitty Forman are opening up the basement again for a whole new group of teens after granddaughter Leia (named after the princess, natch) elects to spend the summer of 1995 in the fictional suburbs of Point Place, Wisconsin. That ’90s Show may take place nearly two decades after its predecessor but it still might be launching the careers of a new generation of young actors just as That ’70s Show did. But this group of kids might have a few more years to get famous than the original cast. After all, they’re all a couple of years younger than the original gang.
Unlike the original — which used the usual sitcom formula of casting 20-somethings as high schoolers — That ’90s Show is using a cast of bonafide teens, some of whom are young enough to still require an onset tutor just like Mila Kunis – who mildly fibbed about her age and joined the show while she was only 15.
Here are the ages of the cast of Netflix’s That ’90s Show.
Callie Haverda (Leia Forman)
Callie Haverda —who leads the cast as Leia Forman, the daughter of Eric and Donna — is 15 years old, the same age as Kunis when she first appeared in the original show’s first episode in 1998. That ’90s Show is her first major role but she’s been acting since she was only 5 years old.
Ashley Aufderheide (Gwen Runck)
Like the majority of the new gang, Ashley Aufderheide is just shy of legal adulthood at 17 years of age. Prior to playing rebel-with-a-heart-of-gold Gwen, Aufderheide was a series regular on Emergence.
Mace Coronel (Jay Kelso)
Coronel, who plays Kelso and Jacqui’s son Jay is the eldest member of the basement gang at a just-old-enough-to-vote age of 18 years. Mace was best known for his four-year run as Dicky Harper on Nickelodeon’s Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, and Dawn prior to getting the part of Jay Kelso.
Maxwell Acee Donovan (Nate Runck)
Another one of the cast’s 17-year-olds, Donovan is stepping into his first major role as a young man as Nate, the easy-going and fun-loving brother of Riot Grrl Gwen.
Reyn Doi (Ozzie)
At 13 years old, Doi is the youngest of the group, even younger than Mila Kunis was when she first played Jacqui. Ozzie may be the most perceptive character in the series and is also the first openly gay character to be part of the Forman basement group.
Sam Morelos (Nikki)
The last 17-year-old in the cast, Sam Morelos makes her television debut with That ’90s Show portraying Nate’s ambitious and intelligent girlfriend, Nikki.
Debra Jo Rupp (Kitty Forman)
At the tender age of 71 years, Rupp returns to take a ’90s spin with her most beloved character, regarded as one of the greatest TV moms of all time.
Kurtwood Smith (Red Forman)
At 79 years old most guys would be happily retired but Smith was more than happy to return to his best-known role as Red Forman and will no doubt be spending the season telling the next generation of basement dwellers that they’re all dumbasses.
