Hyrax To Appear Later This Season On The Flash

To say that Barry Allen has had to deal with a lot as of late is a massive understatement. Not only did Nazis originating from Earth-X crash his wedding, but he’s also been framed for the murder of Clifford DeVoe. And, unbeknownst to him, the Thinker inserted his consciousness into the newly introduced Brainstorm! Suffice it to say, things are getting complicated.

Of course, this’ll lead to The Flash being on trial once the show picks up in less than a week, but we all know that’ll eventually pass. And when that happens, we expect the Scarlet Speedster and his friends to begin dealing with various other metahuman threats on a weekly basis.

To the surprise of all, one of those guest baddies will be none other than Veronica Dale AKA Hyrax. Seriously, this comes as a shock not only because is she such an obscure character, but also because she was associated with the Green Arrow in the comic books. Regardless, Arrow made more use of Captain Boomerang than this series did, so the swap kind of makes sense when we think of it in that regard.

And thanks to That Hashtag Show, we now have the following casting breakdown:

VERONICA DALE – Mid 20s-30s. Female, an Environmental Activist (back when she was still sane) turned Animal Liberator turned Domestic Terrorist, who’s the leader of the Eden Corps — a cult-like organization that proposes to turn back the clock to a pre-industrial age — and if millions of innocent people have to die in the process, well, that’s just tough…LARGE PRINCIPAL

Let it be known that “large principal” is not in reference to her being a portly educator, but rather, a major recurring character. Having said that, expect Hyrax to factor heavily into the back half of season 4. And, who knows, we could see her align with Brainstorm, or, she’ll emerge as the second big bad this year if the DeVoe arc ends up coming to an early end.

The Flash returns with new episodes on Tuesday, January 16 on The CW.
