First Images From Supernatural/Scooby-Doo Crossover Emerge

Over the years, Scooby-Doo and the gang have taken part in some memorable team-ups. Believe it or not, those meddling kids can lay claim to having met the likes of Batman and Robin, the Three Stooges, the Harlem Globetrotters and even the cast of Gilligan’s Island. In fact, DC even published an ongoing comic titled Scooby-Doo Team-up in recent years.

But, later this month, the Great Dane with an insatiable hunger will cross paths with Sam and Dean Winchester in what’s expected to be an unforgettable animated mashup. Sure, Supernatural is still riding high after Bobby Singer’s recent return (even if it’s his doppelganger), but this’ll likely take the cake as the most memorable thing to come out of season 13.

Now, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have our first look at the appropriately titled “Scoobynatural” via some images that can be viewed in the accompanying gallery. Amazingly enough, we get to see both live action and animated sides of the adventure, with Dean sporting a kick-ass ascot in the former and some classic Scooby tropes being rehashed in the latter. To us, it looks like the best of both worlds.

Now, if you’re wondering how this all came about, it’ll go down after the boys save a pawn shop owner from a stuffed dinosaur that’s come to life (really) before being gifted with a free TV. Most unfortunate for them (or fortunate, in Dean’s opinion), the Winchesters are beamed into an episode of Scooby-Doo, thus hinting the tube is somehow cursed.

Here’s what co-showrunner Robert Singer had to say about the merry mayhem:

“Once they get over their amazement at being in the cartoon, two things happen. They say, ’We’ve been in a situation like this before with the Trickster and I think we’re supposed to play this out.’ And then they realize they’re in a Scooby-Doo cartoon, which makes Dean incredibly excited because Scooby-Doo was his favorite cartoon growing up.”

Supernatural airs on Thursday nights on The CW, with “Scoobynatural” slated to debut on March 29.
