And while some viewers may have been a little disappointed by Freddy Krueger’s limited screen time, it seems that Englund’s recently aired cameo more or less lived up to the hype, with Twitter flooding with messages from fans still high off the nostalgia buzz and gladly reliving their old nightmares.

Evidently, show creator Adam F. Goldberg made a lot of people happy when he managed to convince Englund to come back for the part. Nonetheless, even the producer realized that a full movie with the original Freddy would be even better, and so he too took to Twitter push New Line Cinema to make another Elm Street.

Sure enough, in a recent interview with Access Live, Englund mentioned that he may still have one last film left in him. And while the actor also suggested that the studios would likely be keen to reboot the series with a star who can stick around for the sequels, this is still the most optimistic we’ve heard him sound for a while about the possibility of coming back.

As it stands, the latest Goldbergs episode – titled “Mister Knifey-Hands” – could well be the last time we ever see Englund in the role. And while the fans seem pretty pleased with what they got, it’s clear that another A Nightmare on Elm Street film would really make their October.
