Investigation into an iconic plane disappearance makes itself seen on the Netflix charts

What happened to MH370?

It’s been years since the Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 disappeared during its flight from Malaysia to China. And while the mystery surrounding the plane still hasn’t been solved, a documentary series about the plane’s disappearance has managed to place itself in Netflix‘s top streaming charts.

MH370: The Plane That Disappeared: Limited Series is a limited documentary series about the MH370 investigation. Since its release on Netflix, it managed to hit number two on the streaming platform’s top 10 most streamed TV series. Over 59 million hours were viewed for this show but fell short of You: Season 4‘s numbers, which were over 75 million. It makes sense considering the docu-series only has three parts, lasting 90 minutes each.

While the docu-series sheds a light on what could have happened to the plane, critics claimed the show “provided a platform for conspiracy theorists” to share “outlandish” ideas about the tragic and mysterious incident.

The Netflix limited series covered the investigation and mystery of the MH370 disappearance. The plane vanished around March 2014, affecting 227 passengers and 12 flight crew. It was reported that as MH370 was about to approach Vietnam airspace, the plane mysteriously “goes dark,” which launched the search and investigation for the missing airliner.

The plane’s disappearance sparked multiple theories on how a large Boeing airliner disappeared with few traces of it being found. The series interviewed family members of the missing crew and passengers, former Malaysian Airlines admin staff members, former Malaysian government officials, as well as those who might shed some light on what happened to the plane.

All three episodes of this documentary series are available to stream on Netflix.
