As of now, it’s not abundantly clear as to what threats await the Waverider crew in season 3 of Legends of Tomorrow, but we do know that they’ll be struggling to fix time, something they somehow managed to break in last spring’s finale. Still, some flesh and blood antagonists have been outright named, be they returning foes such as Captain Cold and Damien Darhk, or Kuasa, who’s set to make her live action debut in the Arrowverse (she previously appeared on the Vixen animated web series).
The latest addition to the cast sees Jes Macallan (Mistresses) find herself in the recurring role of Special Agent Ava Sharpe. Before proceeding any further, let’s take a look at the character description provided by Deadline:
A hard working agent for a secret branch of the Federal Government (the Time Bureau) dedicated to the regulation of time-travel and the protection of history. She is very smart and incredibly ambitious and always believes she is the smartest person in the room. She is often quite ruthless in obtaining her goals and her drive for perfection has left many discarded friendships (and relationships) in her wake.
First off, I’m wondering why we haven’t heard about this secret branch until now, but maybe it’ll be tied into the events of last year’s DC TV crossover. By that, I mean it’s entirely possible somebody took notice that the same heroes detained in the 1950’s did battle with the Dominators in 2016, thus they were able to deduce time travellers exist.
As for Ava Sharpe herself, she does sound like she could be quite antagonistic, but could just be someone who’s uncompromising and possibly ambiguous. Regardless, what we’ve learned today paints the picture of a great foil for a history buff like Citizen Steel.
Legends of Tomorrow returns for its third season on Tuesday, October 10 on The CW.
