Jon Snow Will Be A Part Of Two Monumental Meetings In Game Of Thrones Season 7

Game of Thrones costume designer Michele Clapton has shed new light on two monumental meetings set to take place in season 7.

If Westeros has always been compared to a chess board – a sprawling, blood-drenched chess board at that – then the impending two-part finale for Game of Thrones will see the more prominent pieces of HBO’s fantasy saga come together in spectacular fashion.

Truth be told, leaked set photos have already spoiled one meeting in particular, but thanks to the show’s costume designer Michele Clapton, we now have confirmation of not one, but two monumental meetings set to occur in Game of Thrones season 7 – and they both involve Kit Harington’s newly-appointed King of the North, Jon Snow. Clapton spoke to Uproxx (via IndieWire) in anticipation of the show’s return on Sunday, July 16th, and we should warn you that that interview is riddled with spoilers. We’re now in uncharted territory, after all, given HBO’s award-winning adaptation has overtaken George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire – Martin, who is executive producing a Game of Thrones spinoff series for the network, is still toiling away on The Winds of Winter.

With all that in mind, consider this your final warning, for the Internet is dark and full of spoilers.

Still with us? As part of an extensive piece on the costumes set to feature in Game of Thrones season 7, Michele Clapton spoke briefly about Jon Snow’s arc in the upcoming season, and how the creative team approached his most important scenes. Building on season 6’s show-stopping finale, Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen will finally have the family reunion that fans have been frothing for, while there’s also word that Snow will be crossing paths with another, more irritable queen: Cersei Lannister.

We had a lot of discussions about, does the cape give him presence, or is it better to not have that presence? What are we trying to say? There are times when we removed it because we wanted him to be more vulnerable. Especially I think, when he saw Dany, and he went to see her for the first time in her chamber.

It’s the monumental meeting that has been on the cards for years, but now that it’s finally happening, what do you hope to see from that fabled Targaryen meeting? What about Cersei’s first encounter with the newly-appointed King of the North? We’ll find out what’s in store once Game of Thrones season 7 begins on Sunday, July 16th. Those in the UK can expect HBO’s fantasy flagship to return via Sky Atlantic the following day.
