American Horror Story isn’t a show that tends to showcase its wares ahead of time. As a matter of fact, FX often goes to great lengths in order to retain a sense of mystery and intrigue around its prized horror anthology series, even going so far as to releasing faux promos to keep viewers in the dark.

It’ll return later this year for a seventh season, one which will mine inspiration from the Presidential Election of 2016. Further details on that political theme and its many characters remain under lock and key, but according to the new issue of Vogue Magazine, Lady Gaga (real name: Stefani Germanotta) will be back for more AHS before the year’s end.

First spotted by the eagle eyes of Twitter account AHSleak, a Vogue article recounts Gaga’s time with the anthology series, which has even earned her a Golden Globe for her performance in American Horror Story: Hotel. The musician’s involvement stretched into Roanoke, too – albeit for a smaller role – but fans have long wondered whether Lady Gaga will have a part to play in the politically-driven seventh season of American Horror Story.

FX is yet to answer that question in an official capacity, but Vogue appears to have beaten the network to the punch, writing that Gaga will “return for an undisclosed role in the election-themed 2017 series set to debut in September.”

Assuming this casting tidbit turns out to be true, the musician-cum-actress will be rubbing shoulders with Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Billy Eichner, Billie Lourd, Cheyenne Jackson, Colton Haynes and Leslie Grossman, and at least according to Ryan Murphy’s latest Instagram post, they’ll be going up against a monstrous nasty. Is this the big bad of AHS season 7? Or merely another clue for the season’s setting? Let the speculation commence.

The seventh season of FX’s American Horror Story will begin its run in the fall, with the premiere expected to take place on Election Night.
