Legends Of Tomorrow Producer Is Happy That They’re Not In This Year’s Crossover

Last year offered us a true treat as all four of the shows that make up the Arrowverse came together for one epic, week-long crossover titled “Crisis on Earth-X.” It was the culmination of the yearly crossover event growing in proportion with each new outing, starting off as just a minor team-up between Green Arrow and the Flash and turning into a multi-dimensional blockbuster.

When this season’s Arrowverse crossover occurs, though, Legends of Tomorrow won’t be part of it. Sure, it’s not like we’re being sold short, as there’s a LOT to look forward to. But still, losing the Legends will mean that we’ll have far less superheroes involved in the crossover than last year, even with the addition of Kate Kane aka Batwoman.

If you ask showrunner Phil Klemmer though, it’s actually a good thing that the Waverider won’t be involved in the shenanigans, and here’s why:

“People are already talking about crossover 2019. We’re on standby. I don’t know how that will work. There’s already a loose shape for it even though this year’s crossover isn’t done by a long shot. I was happy to have sit this year out just because we only have 16 and our run of episodes was so tight and integrated. It’s always a blast but it’s a departure. I’m glad we got to do a straight run this year.”

Makes sense, and like we said before, there’ll be more than enough going on in this year’s crossover to distract us from the fact that the Waverider crew isn’t taking part. Of course, the biggest thing to look forward to is the debut of Ruby Rose’s Batwoman as well as the introduction of Gotham City into the Arrowverse. Beyond that, though, Tyler Hoechlin will also be reprising his role as Superman, with Lois Lane joining him, too.

The Arrowverse crossover will take place across the eighth episodes of the series, airing on December 9th-11th, and as soon as we learn more about what’s in store, we’ll be sure to let you know.
