Perhaps it’s the sheer gravity of what’s at stake in the world of Westeros following the season 6 finale, or the fact that Game of Thrones season 7 is arriving a little late due to unforeseen weather conditions, but the excitement currently swirling around HBO’s fantasy flagship is palpable.

Marking the first installment of the show’s two-tier finale – a finale that has reportedly grown in the tellingGame of Thrones season 7 promises to bring together some of Westeros’ key players in a major way, and leaked set photos have already teased fans with some of the monumental meetings in store.

When pressed about how her Arya Stark fits into the equation, Maisie Williams told ITV’s This Morning show (via /Film) that in 2017, things “really heat up” for the young Stark girl, who was last seen butchering an old nemesis on Westeros soil. Williams naturally skated around specifics, but here’s what the actress had to share:

“This year it really kind of heats up. Particularly for Arya, there’s some really high points… there’s some really low points, too.”

As for her close relationship with Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark on HBO’s hit drama, Williams continued:

“It’s been really wonderful to have someone else who is my own age, and who also was just plucked out of seemingly normal life with no sort of acting background. It’s nice to sort of have her going through this industry… someone else who completely gets it. She’s like my big sister…”

Dark and difficult times lie ahead, folks, but when it comes to George R.R. Martin’s political cauldron, that’s all part of the fun. Game of Thrones season 7 is on course to premiere this summer via HBO – Sky Atlantic for those in the UK – with the latest reports claiming the network has earmarked June 25th. Take that one with a pinch of salt from the Iron Islands for now.
