Marvel submitting ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ for 19 Emmys is wishful thinking at its finest

Does it even have a chance of winning one?

Thanks to a Rotten Tomatoes audience approval rating of just 33 percent, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is officially the least-popular film or television project of the entire Marvel Studios era among users of the aggregation site.

While there’s obviously a hefty helping of review-bombing at play – particularly when you weigh up the negative response against a stellar 80 percent score from critics – does Tatiana Maslany’s first run of adventures as Jennifer Walters have enough in the tank to make an unexpected play for awards season glory?

The smart answer is probably no, it does not, but that hasn’t prevented Marvel from submitting the polarizing Disney Plus series for consideration in no less than 19 categories at the upcoming Emmys. Sure, there’s an element of throwing everything at the wall and seeing what ends up sticking, but there’s also the distinctly high possibility it’ll turn out to be for nothing.

After all, we’re living in the age of prestige TV where countless high-profile titles are battling for both supremacy and trophies on a regular basis, and it wouldn’t be unfair to suggest that She-Hulk more than likely isn’t in with a chance. One advantage it has is that the series is being restricted to the comedy sphere, which does at least put it in with a decent shout of some technical nods, and perhaps even a surprise acting nomination or two.

Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, directing and writing might be out of reach – and the less said about the possible reactions to a VFX shortlisting the better – but the visual, costuming, and design aspects are all top-notch, so maybe She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will shock the world by getting the chance to stick it to the trolls and take home some gold.
