When it comes to the cast, however, that’s something different altogether. As you may have heard, stalwart actor Mehcad Brooks will exit sometime before the midseason mark. And though it’s sad to think James Olsen won’t be around on a regular basis any longer, we will be reunited with Jeremy Jordan’s Winn Schott for three episodes, so there’s that.

Believe it or not, we’ll soon meet a female version of Brainiac-5, who’ll be played by none other than Meaghan Rath. As you may know, she’s the real life sister of series regular Jesse Rath, so it’ll be intriguing to see them as onscreen siblings as well.

Here’s what Jesse had to say about this situation while speaking at San Diego Comic-Con:

“[This is] something that I’ve been pitching since I got the role. You can’t talk about Brainy without talking about his family. My real-life sister will be joining the show, Meaghan Rath. She will be playing a female Brainiac-5.”

Well, he’s right about his character having a storied family history. If you’ll remember, Smallville alum Laura Vandervoort guest starred as Indigo AKA Brainiac-8 during the show’s first season. But when it comes to the O.G. Brainiac himself, he probably won’t show up anytime soon due to his continued involvement in SyFy’s Krypton.

Supergirl returns with new episodes on Sunday, October 6th on The CW. Keep in mind that it remains unknown as to how many adventures Meaghan Rath will appear in, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
