It’s Fox on Fox in the new teaser for New Girl season 5, with today’s teaser heralding the arrival of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles actress and guest star Megan Fox.
Filling the void left by series stalwart Zooey Deschanel – who took a brief hiatus from the show for maternity leave – Fox is on board to play the role of a Reagan, described as “a gorgeous, straight-shooting pharmaceutical sales rep who comes to town on business and shakes things up in the loft when she rents out Jess’ room while she is sequestered on jury duty.”
Taking up the mantle of the newest New Girl, the latest clip for the series’ return is more of an introduction to how Fox’s newcomer will interact with her new friends, particularly Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Nick (Jake Johnson). With Deschanel’s Jess absent on jury duty, series showrunner Liz Meriweather teased just how Reagan will shake things up come next week: “I’ve been a fan of her comedic skills since This is 40, and I’m so excited to have her on the show. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part — she’s the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up.”
We’re little under a week out from New Girl‘s return, with season 5 penciled in to hit the small screen on Tuesday, February 9 at 8 p.m. ET. Lamorne Morris, Hannah Simone, Fred Armisen, Taran Killam, Nasim Pedrad and 21 Jump Street comedy star Rob Riggle round out the extended cast.
