We first met Mike Colter’s Luke Cage in the first season of Jessica Jones, but the character will be getting his own series a little later this year. Like that and Daredevil before it, Power Man’s show will no doubt be crammed full of great Easter Eggs paying homage to his comic book adventures and future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Talking at the Television Critics Association press tour this past weekend, Colter was asked about the possibility of Luke Cage donning his iconic yellow vest and tiara. Surely that won’t make it into the Netflix series, right?
“You know when you see something and you know they’re going to do it and you cant believe its real? I’ll leave it at that,” said the actor. “Anything that’s primarily Luke Cage we want to save for Luke Cage’s series. I’m not saying that you’re going to see the yellow shirt, but if you’re going to see it, it’ll be in Luke Cage’s series.”
Not a huge amount is known about what’s to come in Luke Cage, but Colter made one hell of an impact in Jessica Jones, so chances are that it’s going to be great. Just like Daredevil gave The Man Without Fear his classic red suit by the end of the first season and Jessica Jones teased the Jewel outfit, this is no doubt going to factor into Luke Cage in some way, but we’ll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.
