New Flash Season 5 Synopsis Teases Danger For Nora

Nora Allen might have super-speed just like her pops, but it seems the superheroine will be in need of some saving in an upcoming episode of The Flash season 5. That's because according to this new synopsis, Barry Allen and Iris West's daughter from the future is about to become the target of a dangerous new meta in the fourth installment of the current run.

Nora Allen might have super-speed just like her pops, but it seems the superheroine will be in need of some saving in an upcoming episode of The Flash season 5. That’s because according to this new synopsis, Barry Allen and Iris West’s daughter from the future is about to become the target of a dangerous new meta in the fourth installment of the current run.

Titled “News Flash,” the episode’s written by Kelly Wheeler & Lauren Certo and directed by Brent Crowell and will introduce Spin, a gender-swapped version of a DC comics foe who’s previously been described as “a young aspiring social media influencer who seizes the opportunity to make herself famous when she discovers there is a new hero in Central City.” The following synopsis for the episode makes it clear that it’s Nora AKA XS that Spin targets.

“NORA IS TARGETED BY A DANGEROUS META — Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) face the ultimate parenting test when Team Flash battles Spin (guest star Kiana Madeira), a savvy millennial armed with meta tech, and a dangerous agenda for their daughter, Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy). Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) is feeling defeated until an unlikely source issues a challenge to help boost his confidence.”

Of course, Spin’s just the latest Flash fiend to be changed from a man on the page to being portrayed by a woman on screen. A few others that spring to mind are season 1’s Bug-Eyed Bandit (The Walking Dead‘s Emily Kinney), season 3’s The Top (Ashley Rickards) and season 4’s the Fiddler (Miranda MacDougall). If you don’t recognize the name, by the way, don’t kick yourself too hard, as Spin only appeared in a handful of comics in 2008.

Before we get to “News Flash,” though, we have next week’s episode “Blocked,”  in which big bad Cicada will make his presence felt, and the ominously titled “The Death of Vibe.” That can’t mean what it sounds like, can it? I guess we’ll have to keep watching The Flash every Tuesday on The CW to find out.
