Gotham has often drawn the ire of comic book fans for introducing many of Batman’s greatest villains a ridiculously long time before Bruce Wayne dons the cape and cowl, hence why the reaction to the news of Poison Ivy’s impending arrival has received a mixed response.

While this version of the character won’t have powers, the baffling decision to suddenly increase her age has caused a lot of confusion, though there’s no denying that this transformation is still pretty intriguing. Now, a new image has been released which offers up a look at Ivy post transformation as she goes from shy child to…sexy teenager?!

Asked for details on what leads to Ivy Pepper’s (Maggie Geha) unexpected change in age, Gotham executive producer John Stephens explained:

“One of the creatures that escaped from Indian Hill has the power to age people. Sometimes he uses it to kill people; other times he doesn’t get to complete the process.”

Does that mean this is a permanent change or something characters like Jim Gordon and Selina Kyle will attempt to fix in the hope of returning Ivy to her old self? Time will tell on that front, but Indian Hill has so far led to some very weird happenings in Gotham, including the unexpected resurrection of Fish Mooney.

Gotham returns to Fox on September 19th, so hopefully more details will be revealed as we get closer to the premiere.
