Wonder Woman is just over a month away now, but with all the attention being placed firmly on James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 at the moment, you’d be forgiven for not knowing.
In fact, fans have been growing increasingly worried in recent weeks, claiming that Warner Bros. hasn’t been doing enough marketing for the film, fearing that the studio may be getting ready to write it off. While it’s still too early to make those kind of assumptions, it does feel like there’s been a lack of promotional material compared to what we see from other comic book movies. Or at least, there was. Now, however, things look to be picking up.
Earlier this week, we got a few new TV spots for Wonder Woman, one of which showed us a glimpse of the villainous Ares. Continuing on with the momentum that those sparked, today we received 6 new stills from the DC Comics adaptation, which give us a few behind the scenes shots as well as looks at Steve Trevor in action, Diana Prince shopping and much more. You can check them all out in the gallery up above, though don’t expect to lay eyes on anything too revealing, as the studio has made sure to keep things completely spoiler-free with these latest images.
Situated toward the early stages of the 20th century, Wonder Woman largely takes place at a time when The Great War consumed Europe and parts of North Africa. Housed up on the idyllic island of Themyscira, Diana is totally isolated from the nearby war – until Chris Pine’s Trevor crash lands on those sun-kissed beaches, that is. His arrival is enough to dramatically change Diana’s mindset, and it isn’t long before the titular hero makes tracks for the European theater of war – God Killer in tow.
That is, in a nutshell, the general gist of Warner Bros.’ imminent superhero blockbuster, and you’ll be able to get a sense of the origin story that awaits Wonder Woman via today’s fresh batch of high-res images ahead of the film’s release on June 2nd.
