Since the show’s big splash at New York Comic-Con, all has been relatively quiet on the Iron Fist front. Sure, we’ve seen Danny Rand (Finn Jones) rear his head on The Defenders set, but details regarding Marvel and Netflix’s fourth solo series have been few and far between.

That all changes today, however, now that IGN has lifted the lid on four all-new Iron Fist photos designed to introduce Danny Rand’s hero in the making. Flanked by a close team of allies – namely Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) and Marvel stalwart Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) – we also get a glimpse of Joy Meachum (Jessica Stroup) and Ward Meachum (Tom Pelphrey).

Lewis Tan, who recently climbed on board as the villainous Zhou Cheng, is nowhere to be seen though. Perhaps Marvel is keeping the show’s primary adversaries in the dark until a later date? One way or another, off the back of Mahershala Ali’s magnetic performance in Luke Cage, Lewis Tan and Co. have some mighty boots to fill.

Further down the pipeline, once Netflix subscribers become acquainted with Danny Rand/Iron Fist, Finn Jones’ character will be joining forces with Daredevil, Cage and Jessica Jones for The Defenders late next year – there’s just one more origin story to tell before Marvel assembles its small-screen heroes.

Iron Fist has been earmarked for March 17, 2017. Indeed, the Finn Jones-led standalone series is set to jump-start and exciting year for Marvel television, what with both The Defenders and The Punisher due to arrive at some stage in 2017. Both are fairly early on in development, but we do have confirmation that the former series will comprise a shorter season of eight episodes.
