Fighting the undead is nothing new for actor Pedro Pascal, who once faced blood-sucking vampires in the late 90s series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Last month, the acclaimed actor and star of HBO’s The Last of Us gushed about his time in the Buffyverse and working with actress Sarah Michelle Gellar.
The nostalgic moment occurred during the season three premiere of The Mandalorian, when the 47-year-old was shown a vintage photo of himself alongside Gellar during an episode titled “The Freshmen.” The actress shared the post on Instagram just one day before the event, writing in the caption, “When #Mother met #Father,” leaving Pascal stunned.
When asked if he remembered anything about being on the iconic show, the Chilean-born American actor said: “Absolutely everything,” before proceeding to gush over his former co-star.
“I remember she had ice cream in her trailer, and she gave me some,” the actor recalled, telling Entertainment Tonight’s Ash Crossan: “She went back to her trailer, she got me some ice cream, and she shared — ’cause it was a night shoot, it was in the middle of the night, and we were on the UCLA campus. They hadn’t built their college sets yet.”
Pascal, who currently fights all kinds of infected creatures, including runners, clickers, and bloaters on the HBO post-apocalyptic drama television series, also opened up about wearing a vampire mask after his character Edward was bitten and ultimately killed by Buffy. “I had to have lunch in the vamp mask and vamp face,” the actor revealed. “And she was incredibly kind. She taught me how to use a sandbag to hit my mark. She was the best.”
Buffy the Vampire Slayer initially premiered on March 10, 1997 and ran for seven seasons until its last episode aired on May 20, 2003. Fans can catch Pascal on The Last of Us as Joel Miller every Sunday at 9:00 pm EST on HBO and HBO Max in season three of The Mandalorian when it premieres on Disney Plus on March 1.
