‘A’ has made it a habit of filling in the blanks with her own version of the story. Aside from a skewed perception of right and wrong – and generally bad timing – she usually gets to the bottom of things before anyone else. If ‘A’ is really Alison, it makes sense that she would know all of this information, given that she had a front row seat for most of it. If not, I’m not sure if stalker is a strong enough word for whoever ‘A’ really is.
Without putting a whole lot of effort into it, ‘A’ traded a major breadcrumb with Toby (Keegan Allen) for leverage over the Liars. Imagine what would happen if even a few things in that RV fell into the hands of those two not-so-friendly FBI agents. Lucky for the Liars, ‘A’ usually likes to handle her business without bringing guests to the table. And Toby is going to take full-advantage of his newly acquired breadcrumb and follow it straight to the truth about his mother’s death. His latest discovery? That she was getting secret visits from a young blonde, presumably Alison (Sasha Pieterse). Why is it that Alison always has something to do with everything that went terribly wrong in Rosewood before, and possibly after, her disappearance?
Meanwhile, Spencer is still keeping hush hush about what she knows. It’s the little white lies like this that come back to bite you later. If we’ve learned anything from Pretty Little Liars, it’s that the secrets the liars keep from each other end up causing the most trouble for everyone. What is the worse thing that would happen if Spencer came clean and told Aria (Lucy Hale), Hannah, and Emily what Toby did? It’s not like they’re in any position to give Spencer her walking papers. Officer Tanner (Roma Maffia) was right about one thing, the Liars certainly attract their fair share of corpses – and there’s strength in numbers.
With everyone going for a ride on the emotional roller coaster this week, I almost forgot about Ezra’s (Ian Harding) adorable son. Judging by the look on Aria’s face, I’m betting she wanted to as well. It’s got to be rough explaining to the new man in your life about your sorted past with your teacher/ex-teacher/ current teacher. Jake (Ryan Guzman) took it pretty well considering the heavy subject matter. The chink in that scene was definitely Aria’s offbeat ending line – “Can I call you?” Is it just me or did someone else assume that they’d already elevated their relationship from texting to calling before this date?
Things aren’t going much better for Hannah and Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) with the weight of what her mother might have done on their shoulders. Caleb is only trying to help – which is always adorable to watch – but he may be doing more damage. And, Hannah’s form of damage control is anything but subtle.
