The Punisher’s Jon Bernthal Responds To Eminem Blasting Netflix Over Cancellation
Following the recent announcement that The Punisher will not be renewed for a third season, the cast of the beloved series found themselves with a rather unlikely ally in the form of diamond-selling rapper Eminem.
Earlier this week, Marshall Mathers hopped on Twitter with a message slamming Netflix for their decision to cancel the show, keeping his condemnation short and blunt, simply writing:
“DEAR @NETFLIX, REGARDING YOUR CANCELLATION OF THE PUNISHER, YOU ARE BLOWING IT!! SINCERELY, MARSHALL”
Since Em put out his message, both Floriana Lima and Amber Rose Revah have expressed their thanks for Mathers’ support, and now it seems that another star of The Punisher is also happy to have Slim Shady on his side. We’re talking about none other than Frank Castle himself, Jon Bernthal, who took to Twitter tonight to show respect for the rapper, saying:
Dear Em. Honored you watch brother. You are the King.
Though The Punisher‘s cancelation has been met with a considerable amount of backlash, it wasn’t exactly surprising to see happen, with Bernthal even saying he was “at peace” with the possibility shortly after season 2 premiered. Not to mention that after Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Daredevil all got the ax in quick succession last year, Frank Castle never really stood a chance, unfortunately.
In any case, with the Marvel/Netflix era almost at an end, the question on everyone’s minds is when we might see the Punisher and the Defenders back on our screens. From what we’ve been told, it could be as long as two years before these characters can appear in non-Netflix releases, suggesting we may have a long wait ahead of us. But in the meantime, at least there’s one more season of Jessica Jones coming our way later this year.
