Something that many fans love about The Flash is that it has never shied away from its comic book roots and fearlessly treads into science fiction territories such as time travel or exploring alternate universes. Expect the series to provide a boatload of fan service when it once again crosses the multiversal barrier with February 9’s episode, which is titled “Welcome to Earth-2” (try not hearing that spoken in Will Smith’s voice).
One of the most exciting aspects of said episode will see Robbie Amell return as Deathstorm, Earth-2’s villainous doppelganger to our beloved Firestorm. When Amell recently spoke at Heroes and Villains Fan Fest in New Jersey, he dropped this bombshell:
“In episode 13, so in a couple weeks, you’ll see me as Deathstorm, and Caitlin as Killer Frost. So I get to come back, and I kill a series regular. So there’s that, I’m probably going to get in trouble for saying that.”
Whether or not the series regular in question that will be killed is from Earth-1 or happens to be their Earth-2 counterpart remains to be seen. It should be noted though that we will see Earth-2’s Barry Allen and Iris West, so it’s important to go into this episode with an open mind. Regardless of what may happen, it should make for an exciting hour of television.
Be sure to check out the official synopsis below for initial plot details:
“BARRY VISITS EARTH-2 – Barry (Grant Gustin), Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) journey to Earth-2 to rescue Wells’ daughter, Jesse (guest star) from Zoom. Barry is stunned when he runs into Earth-2 Iris (Candice Patton) and Joe (Jesse L. Martin), but nothing prepares him for meeting Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) and Deathstorm (guest star Robbie Amell). Meanwhile, back on Earth-1, Jay (guest star Teddy Sears) has to take over the Flash’s responsibilities when a meta-human nicknamed Geomancer (guest star Adam Stafford) attacks Central City. Millicent Shelton directed the episode written by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg and Katherine Walczak (#213). Original airdate 2/9/2016.”
The Flash airs Tuesday nights at 8:00 pm EST on The CW.
