Robin Lord Taylor Promises An Apocalyptic Gotham Season Finale

With all the attention surrounding Jeremiah Valeska as of late, it becomes almost easy to lose sight of the bigger picture. After all, Gotham has always been an ensemble series, with many members of the principal cast having been around since its freshman year.

One such example is that of Robin Lord Taylor, who’s been doing a fine job of playing Oswald Cobblepot AKA the Penguin. Of course, his character has seen better days, as he’s pretty much had the rug pulled out from under him in recent weeks. That said, maybe he can find some new friends after the next big shakeup to the status quo.

Speaking of which, here’s what Taylor had to say about the upcoming season finale while appearing at Heroes and Villains Fan Fest in Nashville over the weekend:

“You know, it’s pretty much apocalypse. We’ve all sort of decided that’s where Gotham City is going after the wrath of Jeremiah. That’s so exciting to all of us because then, in an apocalyptic scenario, all of the power structures shift. Certain people fall out, some people come back. You know, it’ll be interesting to see where Oswald lands in all of that, as it will be interesting for any of the other characters. I think, as if Gotham wasn’t apocalyptic enough, we’re going extra apocalyptic, you know?”

Though it won’t be an exact translation of what was originally seen in the comic books, there’s no doubt in my mind that this series’ take on No Man’s Land will be a real game-changer. The only downside to all this is that we’ll have to wait until 2019 to see where the story goes next. As a fan of another DC show, iZombie, I’ve grown used to long hiatuses, but that won’t make the wait any easier.

Be sure to check out the season finale of Gotham this Thursday night on Fox.
