Bo-Katan Mandalorian

‘Star Wars’ actor hints at possible Bo-Katan Disney Plus Show

The Book of Boba Fett's Ming-Na Wen may have accidentally confirmed a Bo-Katan show in a reply on Twitter.

After the wild success of The Mandalorian, Disney and Lucasfilm seem to be focused on getting as much Star Wars on Disney Plus as possible. We’re currently in the middle of The Book of Boba Fett, and 2022 will see Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s debuts. Beyond that are Ahsoka and The Acolyte, but a new rumor this week hints that they could be joined by a Bo-Katan show starring Katy Sackoff.

The report came from ‘That Hashtag Show’, who confidently tweeted “Bo-Katan is getting a #Mandalorian spinoff series”. Soon afterward, The Book of Boba Fett‘s Ming-Na Wen replied:

“Woohoo!!! Thrilled for you @kateesackhoff!!! Congrats, girl!”

Her tweet was quickly deleted, leaving fans scratching their heads. One interpretation is that Ming-Na Wen already knew there was a Bo-Katan show in development and wanted to congratulate her colleague. The other is that she assumed this tweet was related to an official confirmation and that this is the first she’d heard of it.

On balance, the former is most likely. Disney and Lucasfilm run a tight ship when it comes to unannounced projects and I doubt they keep everyone in their large casts informed of their plans.

That doesn’t mean Sackoff’s Bo-Katan won’t return. The Mandalorian‘s second season finale saw Luke Skywalker flying in to save our heroes from Moff Gideon and his squad of Death Troopers. With all that resolved, hints were dropped about a conflict over the Darksaber and the future of Mandalore, setting up a confrontation between Djarin and Bo-Katan.

This dangling plot thread will almost certainly play a role in the eventual third season of The Mandalorian, though with Pedro Pascal still working on HBO’s The Last of Us, we have no idea when that’ll arrive.

In the meantime, perhaps a Bo-Katan show would make sense, especially if they want to flesh out Mandalorian culture in advance of a battle for the throne.
