With CBS announcing earlier today that Supergirl has been given a full season order, that confirms those recent reports about a crossover with The Flash now that the network has pulled the trigger on those extra episodes, right? Wrong.

Following a press screening of this week’s highly anticipated crossover between Arrow and The Flash, a conference was held which included Executive Producer Greg Berlanti (who produces both the latter and Supergirl). When asked about the possibility of the Scarlet Speedster meeting the Girl of Steel, he said:

“No, only because we just received the pick up. Not at this point.”

Now that they have those extra episodes, it certainly sounds like a possibility, but it’s something which clearly hasn’t been decided on at this stage. Speculation has been running rampant about a crossover between Supergirl and The Flash for a very long time now, and as it’s something fans want to see. Not to mention it would be a great way of boosting Supergirl‘s ratings – which have declined a fair bit since the premiere last month. So, you have to believe it could happen somewhere down the line.

Whether or not that will be as soon as 2016 obviously remains to be seen, but here’s hoping we won’t have to wait too long for a meeting between Supergirl and The Flash to become a reality.
