The ‘Ahsoka’ trailer just rewrote the ‘Star Wars Rebels’ rulebook in the best way possible

She is no Jedi, but Ahsoka can still be a great teacher.

Rey might be planning to found a new Jedi Order in an upcoming solo film, but it seems that Ahsoka Tano is beating her to it, training pupils of her own in the post-Imperial Mandalorian timeline.

The latest trailer for Ahsoka premiered today and included many nods and references to both Star Wars Rebels and the book trilogy that spawned its main villain – Grand Admiral Thrawn. But the most peculiar thing for the fandom was the fact that Sabine Wren called Ahsoka “master,” implying that she’s officially training under her to become… well, something.

As you know from Star Wars Rebels, Sabine isn’t Force-sensitive, but thanks to her lightsaber training at the hands of Kanan Jarrus, not to mention her skills as a Mandalorian warrior, she could handle herself in a tight spot. Now it seems that Ahsoka has picked up her training in earnest, and though she may never become a Jedi (in fairness, Ahsoka herself is a Jedi no longer), she is set to become an even more formidable warrior in Ahsoka.

Fans are really excited to see how this new dynamic will work, especially since Ahsoka never finished her own training under Anakin.

You cannot really use the Force to a useful extent if you’re not Force-sensitive, but as proven by Chirrut Îmwe in Rogue One, you can will yourself to have a deeper connection to the energy field that surrounds all living things and “binds the galaxy together.” Is that what Sabine is doing in Ahsoka? And will it help her when she goes toe-to-toe with the new dark-side practitioners?

This will open a world of possibilities for the galaxy far, far away and its future, so we can’t wait to see how it’ll play out in Ahsoka.

The show’s first episode is slated for an August 23 premiere on Disney Plus.
