‘The Bear’ season 2 getting critical acclaim represents the perfect opportunity to throw shade at Netflix

The Bear‘s second season premiered only a week ago, and it’s already the talk of the town. The FX series’ ever-growing popularity is proof that if shows are given the chance to develop further than a single season, great things can happen. Unfortunately, though, not all networks are getting the memo.

At the time of writing, season two of The Bear has a critic approval rate of 100% based on 50 reviews, and the audience is showing up for it. According to reports, this season’s premiere has also had a massive increase in viewing hours in comparison with season one. Naturally, this is a golden opportunity for Netflix users, who have been burned too many times by a network that refuses to give in to popular demand, opting for canceling a fair portion of its original series before barely giving them a chance to grow. Folks are, of course, using The Bear as an example to outright critique Netflix.

In truth, though, even if a Netflix show performs well with critics and audiences alike, that doesn’t save it from the axe. Time and again, subscribers of the platform have seen great series make it to the Top 10 chart in several countries, only to be canceled shortly after. The Bastard Song & the Devil Himself, Lockwood & Co., and Warrior Nun and only a few examples.

Fortunately, it seems like times are changing for fans of Netflix shows, with Warrior Nun having recently been brought back from the dead, inspiring hope for all other victims of the network’s reign of terror. Let’s just hope this is the beginning of a new era.
