The cast of ‘Wednesday’ speculate on who will join them in season 2

Will it be Pubert? Probably not.

In maybe the least surprising showbiz news of the day, the monster Netflix hit Wednesday is officially coming back for another season. The key word here is “officially,” because this news was pretty much cemented in stone when star Jenna Ortega announced in January that “more torture” was coming. So which new characters are going to make their debut? We don’t know yet, but the cast has some guesses.

Season 1 co-showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough previously said that they couldn’t wait to “dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky, spooky world of Nevermore.” It’s been confirmed that a new character will make their debut on the show, and cast members Ortega, Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin) and Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair) attended Tudum: A Global Fan Event and talked about who it could be.

Ortega wants to see the walking hairpiece in a hat, Cousin Itt. Sunday and Doohan want to see Wednesday’s grandmother, Grandmama. Those are actually the only two major family members left to appear.

Minor characters include Baby Pubert Addams, cousin-in-law Margaret Addams, cousin What Addams, cousin Aphasia du Berry, aunt Ophelia Frump, and distant relatives Donald, Dexter, and Lumpy Addams. Chances are slim that it’s one of these. It feels like even money for Itt or Grandmama.

The show’s popularity got an even bigger boost when it was nominated for 12 Primetime Emmy Awards earlier today, which include outstanding costumes and outstanding comedy series. Both Director Tim Burton and Ortega were nominated in their respective creative categories. The show’s been a bonafide cultural phenomenon, shattering viewing records and propelling Ortega into A-level stardom.

There’s no release date just yet for season 2, but we’ll let you know as soon as we hear anything.
