The Defenders Hit Up Hell’s Kitchen In These Stunning Screenshots

Ready to check in with Marvel’s small-screen heroes? In what’s shaping up to be a very, very busy day in The Defenders camp, Entertainment Weekly has offered up what is undoubtedly our best look at the Netflix ensemble series yet with nine neon-drenched photos. They’re all included in the gallery above for you to peruse.

Bringing together Daredevil, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Mike Colter’s Luke Cage for the very first time on screen, The Defenders will see the finest heroes of Hell’s Kitchen (and Harlem!) cross paths upon investigating Midland Circle, the nefarious organization first introduced in Daredevil season 2. Sigourney Weaver’s formidable Alexandra may well be pulling the strings behind their chance meeting – four solitary heroes stumbling upon the same trail of breadcrumbs does seem a little fishy – but it’s far too soon to tell.

When crafting the show’s “sophisticated, intellectual, dangerous” villain, showrunner Marco Ramirez revealed to EW that, “we knew it would take something massive to pull these four characters from their individual worlds to work together, but also small enough that it felt like it existed in our world.”

Jones, Cage, Iron Fist and Daredevil may anchor The Defenders as the show’s four superpower pillars, but Marvel and Netflix’s team-up series has brought together a who’s who of A-list talent. They are, in no particular order, Deborah Ann Woll, Simone Missick, Elden Henson, Eka Darville, Carrie-Anne Moss, Rosario Dawson, Scott Glenn, Rachael Taylor, Jessica Henwick and Elodie Yung as Elektra, the elusive ninja and long-time love interest to Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock. Will they have the chance to rekindle their relationship in a few months’ time? We’ll find out soon enough.

Expect Marvel and Netflix to round up The Defenders sometime this summer. Iron Fist, meanwhile, is the fourth and final solo series – The Punisher notwithstanding – and it’ll premiere on March 17.
