Together they’re known as Marvel’s Heroes for Hire – a spinoff that just might see the light of day – but when it comes to their initial introduction in The Defenders, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter) won’t necessarily see eye to eye.

While doing the press rounds for the Iron Fist solo series, Jones and Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing) sat down with IGN to discuss both the fourth Defender and his future in Marvel’s small-screen universe. When it comes to the latter, we know Jones and Henwick will reprise their respective roles for the upcoming ensemble series, and though there’s still no mention of a premiere date – Marvel is likely holding fire on an announcement so that it doesn’t tread on Iron Fist‘s toes – Jessica Henwick believes the fiery, “unusual” dynamic between Cage and Fist will be one of the more intriguing subplots underpinning Marvel’s team-up series.

Per IGN:

“The first Luke Cage [and] Iron Fist is going to – oh, people are going to love it. Yeah, it’s a really cool dynamic. It’s unusual,” Henwick said before Jones jumped in.

Finn Jones echoed those comments, too, stating that filming alongside Mike Colter’s Power Man “is working really well.” IGN then asked the former Game of Thrones actor whether his Danny Rand will clash with Luke Cage, to which he replied: “Well, you’ll have to wait and see.” Color us intrigued.

With Iron Fist already available on Netflix (our review), The Defenders is expected to grace the online streaming platform sometime this summer. Another project simmering in development is a Punisher solo series, which is set to welcome Jon Bernthal’s menacing Frank Castle onto the streets of Hell’s Kitchen before the year’s end.
