‘The Witcher’ season 3 trailer brings back Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia for one last ride

The entire Continent is intent on capturing Ciri.

As the entirety of the world and the forces beyond humanity’s mortal realm take up arms to chase Cirilla across the Continent, Geralt of Rivia and Yennefer of Vengerberg band together to protect their ward.

This is where The Witcher picks up the narrative in its third season. As you can see in the new trailer down below, Geralt and Yennefer are hell-bent on protecting Ciri, even if it costs them everything else.

The two will no doubt start this journey again on shaky ground, following their falling out in season 2, but since this outing is also supposed to adapt the events of the fourth book, Time of Contempt, the show will hopefully dedicate a large chunk of its runtime to developing their bond.

That is, if they remain loyal to the source material. The Netflix team, directed by showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich, doesn’t exactly hold the books in high esteem if rumors are to be believed, and it was actually this same problem that allegedly forced Henry Cavill to depart the series despite his love for Andrzej Sapkowski’s fictional world.

Speaking of whom, The Witcher season 3 is coming out with a looming shroud of negativity and uncertainty tainting its future prospects. It’s one thing to casually replace a supporting character in a story, but to be forced to change the lead actor, the titular face of the series, at such an important junction in the series? We’re not sure the Netflix adaptation can survive such a transition. And those incessant rumors mentioned earlier aren’t exactly helping its reputation among fans, either.

As the sorcerer Vilgefortz is fond of saying, it’s easy to mistake the stars reflected on the pond at night for those in the sky. And that statement eerily reflects Netflix replacing Henry Cavill with Liam Hemsworth.
