Titans Casts Ryan Potter As Beast Boy

Having been a beloved comic book property for decades before becoming a darling among animation lovers beginning in 2003, one could say that the Teen Titans have been overdue for a live action adaptation for quite some time. Thankfully, things have turned around as of late, with a live action Titans series slated to debut sometime in 2018 via a new digital streaming service that Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are cooking up. Already, casting has been well underway, with Teagan CroftAnna Diop and Brenton Thwaites signing up for the roles of Raven, Starfire and Dick Grayson, respectively. Additionally, Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly have enlisted to play Hawk and Dove with the potential of being granted a spinoff.

Now, we’re learning that another fan favorite will be joining their ranks. As it turns out, Ryan Potter (Big Hero 6) will inhabit the role of Garfield Logan AKA Beast Boy. Granted, this is someone you’d expect to show up, but one can never be certain of which characters Hollywood producers have in mind. Plus, his power set won’t come cheaply.

Speaking of which, here’s the description given by Deadline:

As a child, Potter’s Garfield “Gar” Logan contracted the lethal disease, Sakutia, while on an African expedition with his geneticist parents. Treated with an experimental drug, Gar survived but not without developing some bizarre side effects.  Along with skin and hair turning permanently green, the wisecracking, fun-loving Beast Boy is able to reshape himself into any animal of any size he can imagine.

Right now, we’re not sure of which other Titans will enter the fray, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted. Still, we remain doubtful of Cyborg joining the crew, since he’s currently tied up in the Justice League movie.
