Loki

Tom Hiddleston On Whether Alligator Loki Is A Real Loki

Loki reached its penultimate episode this Wednesday, with episode 5 "Journey into Mystery" following Tom Hiddleston's trickster as he joined forces with various other Loki variants who had been exiled to The Void, a realm at the end of time. These consisted of Classic Loki (Richard E. Grant), Kid Loki (Jack Veal), Boastful Loki (Deobia Oparei) and Alligator Loki. If he actually was a Loki, that is.

The group consisted of Classic Loki (Richard E. Grant), Kid Loki (Jack Veal), Boastful Loki (Deobia Oparei) and Alligator Loki. Though one of them might be a fraud.

A running gag throughout the installment saw multiple characters calling into question whether the reptile was a real Loki or just an alligator in a crown. Croki, as the fans are calling him, was never shown to speak or perform any magic and Mobius didn’t recall ever bringing him into the TVA. Classic Loki even admitted that his main reason for suspecting he’s a Loki is because “he’s green”. So it’s highly possible he’s just a random gator with a snappy taste in headgear.

Tom Hiddleston has now journeyed into the mystery of the truth of Alligator Loki. The star spoke to Marvel.com in an interview published after the ep came out and said that he loves how the confusion brings out the flaw that all the Lokis have: they want to be right all the time.

“The question is, ‘Is he really Loki? Or is he just green? It’s such a funny question that [the Lokis] all bicker about. One thing about Loki is that Loki loves to be right. And they all have a different opinion about this alligator.”

Whether he’s an actual Loki or not, fans have fallen in love with the gator. Hiddleston admitted he’s fond of him, too. The actor described him as “very, very, very cute.” Adding, “I’m sure a cuddly companion for those lost Lokis.”

It’s unclear where Alligator Loki goes from here. After Boastful Loki betrayed the others and Classic Loki sacrificed himself to aid Loki and Sylvie, Kid Loki and Alligator Loki were last seen electing to stay in The Void instead of returning with Mobius to take down the TVA. With it looking like a second season is on the way, though, the door is open for more from everyone’s favorite Asgardian gator.

Loki reaches its season finale next Wednesday on Disney Plus.
