Official set photos have revealed that Tom Payne will be playing the role of Paul Monroe, aka ‘Jesus’ in the upcoming sixth season of The Walking Dead.

Little is known about exactly when the actor will make his debut in the sixth season, which brings The Walking Dead back to screens on October 11th with an extended premiere episode, but the news does signify the addition of another major comic character to the show’s roster, which is definitely a good thing.

In the comics, Monroe is an interesting addition to the growing band of survivors. Despite being initially difficult to work out, he soon proves himself to be a natural survivor and is adept in hand-to-hand combat. His long hair and shaggy beard, along with helpful and selfless personality lead to him being dubbed ‘Jesus’ by fellow survivors.
