Tommy Merlyn Returns In New Arrow Photos

Once Arrow fans had a chance to digest the official synopsis for the season finale, none of us could help pondering which returning familiar faces it was referring to. Whether your suspicions be directed toward Talia al Ghul, Ricardo Diaz or Curtis Holt, these are all entirely valid choices, but some recently presented evidence may hint at who one of them may be.

Believe it or not, the network has released two more images from next week’s episode, “Living Proof,” and they feature none other than Colin Donnell’s Tommy Merlyn. I don’t know why these couldn’t have been included in the original set released earlier this week, but you’re free to check them out below.

As longtime viewers of the series should recall, Tommy met his untimely demise during season 1’s finale but has appeared in flashbacks and hallucinations in the time since. More recently, we met his doppelganger, Prometheus-X, during the “Crisis on Earth-X” crossover event, and the Human Target once borrowed his likeness.

Given how Tommy is talking to Oliver among the rubble, I’m inclined to think this is yet another hallucination or dream sequence. Either way, it’s cool to see Colin Donnell coming home for another guest appearance. Still, it remains to be seen if this is a one-off, or if he’s somehow sticking around for the finale.

For now, though, let’s take a look at the synopsis for “Living Proof”:

OLIVER IS PUT TO THE TEST — Oliver (Stephen Amell) finds himself in a precarious position. SCPD shows up with a warrant for Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards). Gordon Verheul directed the episode written by Oscar Balderrama & Sarah Tarkoff (#721). Original airdate 5/6/2019.

Arrow airs on Monday nights on The CW.
