New Trailer And Synopsis For The Flash Tease What’s To Come In Season 4

In recent memory, I haven't been shy about pointing out how The Flash has been somewhat uneven this season. For the first six episodes, the producers tried so hard to stray from the darkness of season 3 that they made pretty much every line of dialogue a quip, effectively reducing the show to a farce in short order.

In recent memory, I haven’t been shy about pointing out how The Flash has been somewhat uneven this season. For the first six episodes, the producers tried so hard to stray from the darkness of season 3 that they made pretty much every line of dialogue a quip, effectively reducing the show to a farce in short order.

But, with episode 4×07, we saw a turnaround of sorts, as the magic of seasons 1 and 2 was seemingly being recaptured. To be honest, we owe much of our gratitude to the Thinker and all the riveting storytelling and shocking plot twists he’s brought along with him. Of course, I’m keeping my fingers crossed hoping this trend will continue, but the two exhibits we have to present today show that the series will continue going to both extremes.

Since it makes sense to discuss matters in chronological order, let’s talk about the freshly released extended trailer for “The Trial of the Flash.” In it, we see a fair amount of familiar footage, but there’s a lot of new stuff in there as well – particularly that which teases whatever the DeVoes have next on their agenda, as well as Iris possibly revealing Barry Allen’s secret in a court of law. Needless to say, the midseason premiere is not to be missed.

In related news, the synopsis for January 30th’s episode, “Honey, I Shrunk Team Flash,” has found its way online. As you can imagine, reading it has made me rather nervous, hoping that the humor isn’t too juvenile or over the top with this one. Still, it looks like there’s some drama to be found if you read the whole description.

Here’s what we know about that bad boy so far:

THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MEN — A meta who can shrink anything he touches battles Team Flash. Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Ralph (guest star Hartley Sawyer) get caught in his crossfire and are shrunk to miniature versions of themselves. Cecile (guest star Danielle Nicolet) realizes her pregnancy has caused her to have temporary powers and discovers she can hear other people’s thoughts, which unnerves Joe (Jesse L. Martin). Meanwhile, Barry (Grant Gustin) meets someone with a mysterious connection to Henry Allen. Chris Peppe directed the episode written by Sam Chalsen & Judalina Neira (#412). Original airdate 1/30/2018.

The Flash returns with new episodes on Tuesday, January 16 on The CW.
