True Detective Season 2 To Include Eyes Wide Shut-Style Orgy?

Filming on season 2 of True Detective is in full swing right now, with last month delivering us a gallery of snaps taken from the show's Los Angeles locations. Besides those visual updates, one of the series' newest additions, Vince Vaughn, spoke to Playboy recently and emphasized that this sophomore season intends to keep the richly drawn characters and strong material which made the first season a success, but eschew the story and cast. Most of this was already public knowledge, but it was still encouraging to hear Vaughn also make mention of the differences between the seasons.

Filming on season 2 of True Detective is in full swing right now, with last month delivering us a gallery of snaps taken from the show’s Los Angeles locations. Besides those visual updates, one of the series’ newest additions, Vince Vaughn, spoke to Playboy recently and emphasized that this sophomore season intends to keep the richly drawn characters and strong material which made the first season a success, but eschew the story and cast. Most of this was already public knowledge, but it was still encouraging to hear Vaughn also make mention of the differences between the seasons.

One colossal difference may be the inclusion of what The Hollywood Reporter terms a “deliriously vast, Eyes Wide Shut-caliber orgy sequence involving dozens of naked bodies.” The trade dropped that titillating tidbit in a news post concerning the addition of yet more cast members; two famous adult film industry starlets: Amia Miley and Peta Jensen.

The report goes on to supply further details of this supposed romp, which was filmed in a Pasadena mansion over the last two days. Apparently, Vaughn’s co-stars Colin Farrell, who plays detective Ray Velcoro, and Rachel McAdams, who plays fellow cop Ani Bezzerides, were both on set when the sequence was filmed. Due to the intense secrecy surrounding the show, there’s been no verification of the rumor from HBO.

That tight-lipped nature of the show extends similarly to its story. The first season of the show, created by Nic Pizzolatto, accrued universal acclaim from critics and audiences sending another batch of episodes into development. Around the time Pizzolatto was tracking down his perfect cast line-up, the rumor mill kicked into overdrive with a plethora of speculation hitting the web on a daily basis. Understandably so, as the first season of the anthology series starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson was one of last year’s hottest TV productions.

True Detective season 2 is expected to air on HBO sometime later this year. We’ll be sure to keep you posted when we hear more on what Pizzolatto has planned.
