Now that the season premiere of Gotham is so close we can taste it, Fox is rolling out generous teasers by the day. Just yesterday, we were treated to an oversized trailer for the show’s fourth year and, now, a couple sneak peeks have found their way online to whet our appetites.
In the first clip, the camera is focused squarely on a “License of Misconduct” card, something we’ll discuss further in a moment. But mainly, this particular video centers on Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth, the former of whom is obviously taking his first major strides toward becoming Batman.
From what we can gather, this scene takes place not long after Bruce puts on a mask for the first time, seemingly preparing for the inevitable return of Ra’s al Ghul. But to Alfred’s chagrin, the burgeoning vigilante has designs on multitasking, also willing to focus his energies on the immediate threat presented by the Penguin.
Speaking of which, now seems like a good time to talk more about those “License of Misconduct” cards. If the second clip is to tell us anything, it’s that Oswald Cobblepot still has some major pull in Gotham City – even after being ousted as mayor. Somehow, anyone closely associated with him now has the ability to get out of jail free, so count us as being intrigued to see how Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock will be able to work their way around this in the weeks to come.
