Last night’s episode of The Flash was amazing, and while it did a great job of introducing characters like Vandal Savage and Hawkman, it didn’t really set the stage for Legends of Tomorrow. That will likely come down to tonight’s episode of Arrow, but it’s actually going to be even more fun to see how Green Arrow and the Scarlet Speedster manage to stop Savage from killing Hawkgirl.
In the above clip from Arrow, Savage makes his plan clear when he reveals to Oliver, Barry and Malcolm Merlyn/Ra’s al Ghul that he needs to kill Hawkman and Hawkgirl in order to keep his immortality.
Here’s the synopsis for tonight’s episode, courtesy of The CW:
Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Barry Allen (guest star Grant Gustin) take Kendra Saunders (guest star Ciara Renée) and Carter Hall (guest star Falk Henstchel) to a remote location to keep them hidden from Vandal Savage (guest star Casper Crump) while they figure out how to defeat him. Malcolm (John Barrowman) arranges a meeting between Vandal, Green Arrow and The Flash that doesn’t go as planned. Meanwhile, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards), Thea (Willa Holland), Diggle (David Ramsey) and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) work with Team Flash to come up with a weapon powerful enough to destroy Vandal Savage.
While Rip Hunter assembles the Legends of Tomorrow to stop stop Savage from ruling over the world in an apocalyptic alternate future, chances are that Hawkman and Hawkgirl are also going to factor into the reasons for stopping him in a major way given their importance in this crossover. Still, it’s hard to say how Arrow is going to resolve Savage’s story here while still leaving the door open for him to return in the upcoming spinoff.
Regardless, this second part of the crossover is going to no doubt be exciting, and with the cast of Arrow heading to Central City, we’re likely in store for a very different dynamic.
